Katrina Crook is a contemporary photographic artist based in Sydney, Australia. Katrina’s social commitment and interdisciplinary approach informs her art practice. Drawing from an emotional response to the world and community, Katrina offers a way of seeing to highlight concerns of the collective and stimulate conversation. Her special interest lies in bringing awareness and connection through her work. Currently in development is her body of work In Silence; a reaction to the avalanche of youth mental health challenges facing our community.

Storytelling and narrative are present throughout Katrina’s art practice. Using multiple mediums anchored in photography, to explore current themes, alongside traditional photographic methods, she embraces experimental processes and the creation of unique single edition works.

Katrina has strong cinematic influences in her art practise; a result of her first career in the field of Cinematography, spanning 18 years of experience in filmmaking. Moving into commission-based photography across a career of 16 years, coincided with starting a family.

Focusing in recent years on her photographic art practice Katrina’ s work has regularly exhibited in national and international group exhibitions and has been awarded in prestigious Australian and international prizes and festivals.
